The story of Dead Cells has slowly been built up through the game’s many (and mostly free) updates. This review will focus on the third but know that it really is the end of a trilogy, and it’s an excellent one. Created by Evil Empire in tandem with the main game’s developer Motion Twin the first two DLC’s were solid setups for this final piece. Twenty-four of them were free and The Queen & the Sea caps off the trilogy of paid story expansions that started with The Bad Seed & Fatal Falls. Motion Twin slowly revealed more characters coming to the massive crossover over the course of the month with Hollow Knight being revealed last week as the final franchise of the six to be joining Dead Cells. Motion Twin has been teasing fans with details from the highly-anticipated Everyone is Here update since early in November through the official Dead Cells Twitter account. Thankfully for fans looking to bring their favorite indie games into Dead Cells, the 'Everyone is Here' update is completely free. The game has received two paid DLC updates and multiple free updates over its three-year lifespan with the most recent paid DLC, Fatal Falls, released earlier this year adding two new biomes as well as a new boss fight. The crossover-filled update is the most recent in a steady stream of content Dead Cells has received since the game's initial launch. Motion Twin also mentioned that Dead Cells is still discounted by 40% on most digital stores. The flashy trailer for the update shows off some of the new characters in action like Skul's titular protagonist and a costume inspired by Hollow Knight's main character. The game's 26th update adds characters and cameos from a selection of popular indie games like Blasphemous, Curse of the Dead Gods, Guacamelee, Hollow Knight, Hyper Light Drifter, and Skul. Motion Twin's official Twitter account announced Monday morning that the Everyone is Here update for Dead Cells is officially live on consoles. RELATED: Dead Cells Passes New Sales Milestone Fans were understandably excited when Motion Twin announced the massive Everyone is Here crossover earlier this year and, now, the wait is officially over as Skul, The Knight, and many more officially join the Dead Cells roster. The game won several awards following its release including Best Action Game at the 2018 Game Awards and has sold over five million copies as of March of 2021. The update features characters and references to some of the most popular indie titles of recent years like Hollow Knight and Guacamelee with the games featured being slowly announced over the course of the year.ĭead Cellswas first released by indie studio Motion Twin in August of 2018 and was an immediate hit with both fans and critics alike for its fast-paced gameplay combining many of the best elements of its contemporaries.
